Statement on the Celebration of Life for Milton K. Wong

VANCOUVER, BC – Wai Young, Member of Parliament for Vancouver South, made the following statement today on the occasion of the celebration to honour the life of philanthropist Milton K. Wong.

“A tireless community leader and generous philanthropist and outstanding entrepreneur, Milton truly embodied the spirit of service and compassion. He was a Canadian icon who worked tirelessly to strengthen and to build our community. A champion of many important causes and initiatives, he gave of himself in service to others, benefiting the lives of many of us in BC and Canada.

“It was a privilege for me to know him as a mentor and a friend, and along with everyone else whose life he touched, I will miss him. I will always remember working alongside him to bring free multilingual television to Vancouver (now OMNI television) and his remarkable and diligent leadership at that time.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada and my family, I extend my deepest condolences to his family knowing that his legacy will live on forever.”
